The Eastern European Regional Network of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), chaired by the Charitable Foundation "Public Resources and Initiatives" for the next three years, contributed to the organization of the Ukrainian-Romanian Round Table on "Challenges of Euro-Atlantic Security in the Context of Current Geopolitical Issues," held on April 4, 2025.
The event brought together experts on Euro-Atlantic integration, scholars, representatives of government bodies, diplomatic and political circles to discuss pressing issues of international security and Ukraine’s cooperation with NATO. Discussions included historical aspects of this interaction, the role of parliamentary and public diplomacy during wartime and post-war reconstruction, and key challenges facing the Black Sea region amid global turbulence.
Keynote speeches were delivered by Maria Ionova, Chair of the Subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Legislative Support for Ukraine's NATO Membership, and Yevhen Magda, Director of the NGO "Institute of World Policy" and Associate Professor at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute."
Ukraine has defined its strategic path as NATO membership. However, participants noted that NATO is not the only possible security guarantor for Ukraine, highlighting the potential for creating new alliances and building innovative security frameworks.
The event was moderated by Serhii Hakman, Vice President of the Foundation and member of the GPPAC regional network coordination council. Nataliya Nechaeva-Yuriychuk, Head of the Chernivtsi branch of the Charitable Foundation "Public Resources and Initiatives" and coordinator of the Eastern European Network of GPPAC, actively participated in the discussions.
The event was organized by the Chernivtsi Regional Center for Advanced Training in partnership with the Chernivtsi Regional Military Administration, Chernivtsi Regional Council, the Consulate General of Romania in Chernivtsi, the Eastern European Regional Network of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), NGO "Center for Political Narratives of Democracy," and NGO "Center for Relevant Local Initiatives."
We sincerely thank our partners and all participants of the event!
