Researching the Needs of Veterans in Chernivtsi Region: Invitation to Participate

The charitable foundation "Public Resources and Initiatives" is conducting a study on the needs of veterans, female veterans, and their family members in the Chernivtsi region. This research is a key component of the project “Reintegration of War Veterans through the Creation of Educational Opportunities: Ours for Ours, implemented in partnership with DVV International in Ukraine and supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

“Today, Ukraine must not only ensure veterans' rights on paper but also build humane, adaptive, and effective support systems. To achieve this, we must first listen to the veterans themselves: what challenges they face, what kind of support they actually need, and what is lacking in the existing programs,” - says Olena Tanasiychuk, President of the Foundation. - “We aim to go beyond formal statistics and understand the real voices, personal stories, and lived needs.”

Main Objectives of the Research:

  • To study veterans’ educational needs: what knowledge, skills, and types of training they currently require;
  • To assess access to employment, professional retraining, and business opportunities;
  • To gather information about the state of medical, psychological, and legal assistance;
  • To identify the barriers veterans face — whether institutional, informational, financial, or psychological;
  • To collect ideas for improving current programs and initiatives at both local and national levels.

Who Can Participate?

  • Veterans and female veterans residing in the Chernivtsi region;
  • Family members of fallen defenders;
  • Persons with disabilities resulting from the war;
  • Family members of active-duty military personnel preparing to return to civilian life.

Olena Tanasiychuk, President of the "Public Resources and Initiatives" Foundation: “We believe that a veteran is a resource, not a burden. And those who have gone through war must become full participants in shaping change in their communities. To make this possible, we must act based on real needs, not guesswork. This research is key to understanding what our educational, social, and rehabilitation programs should look like. We are deeply grateful to everyone willing to share their experience.”
