Winterization Project “People Warm People”

Project Goal

To provide vulnerable households in frontline regions of Ukraine with thermal and energy support through a solidarity mechanism involving private donors from abroad.

Implementation period: January – March 2026

Geographic coverage: Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions, and the city of Kyiv.

Target Groups

  • Residents of frontline communities
  • Veterans and their family members, particularly families of those killed, missing in action, or held in captivity
  • Large families and families with young children
  • Persons with disabilities
  • Households affected by blackouts

Assistance Format

Support is tailored to current needs (based on beneficiary requests/applications) and may include:

  • Blankets
  • Sleeping bags
  • Thermoses
  • Power banks
  • Rechargeable lanterns
  • Portable charging stations (EcoFlow)
  • Other autonomous heating and energy supply items

Expected Results

  • At least 50 households receive thermal and energy support
  • Increased autonomy and safety during blackout periods
  • Strengthened solidarity between the international community and Ukrainian communities

Partnerships

The project is implemented in partnership with the NGO “Eleos Dnipro,” which has experience in targeted humanitarian assistance in frontline regions and strong logistical capacity.

Implementation Principles

  • Respect for the dignity of beneficiaries
  • Transparency in the use of funds
  • Targeted and accountable assistance
  • Zero tolerance for abuse
  • Gender and social sensitivity

This project is not only about material support. It is a mechanism of direct solidarity: people from different countries support specific Ukrainian families living under shelling or without electricity. The project demonstrates the power of private initiative, trust in local organizations, and the effectiveness of rapid humanitarian response.

Achieved Results

As a result of the project implementation, 119 families in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv oblasts received thermal and energy support. Thanks to contributions from private donors from Latvia and the United States, more than UAH 160,000 was raised.

These funds were used to provide families with portable power stations, power banks, rechargeable flashlights, warm blankets, sleeping bags, thermoses, and other essential items that help preserve warmth, maintain communication, and ensure access to basic energy supply during blackouts and in conditions of frontline insecurity.

The project confirmed the effectiveness of a direct solidarity support model, in which private donors from abroad help specific Ukrainian families, while local organizations ensure targeted assistance, logistics, transparency, and responsible use of aid.
