On April 20–21, 2016, the 2nd International Business Conference “Chernivtsi – 2016” (Afaceri.ro Cernăuți – 2016) took place. The event was organized by the Institute for Democratization and Development in cooperation with APEC Iași, Arhipelago, and the Bukovyna Entrepreneurs Club. The aim of the event was to promote economic partnerships between entrepreneurs from Chernivtsi region and the North-Eastern region of Romania. The forum was attended by entrepreneurs, representatives of local self-government, higher education institutions, NGOs, Ukrainian-Romanian associations, and the media.

The conference created unique opportunities for small and medium-sized business representatives from the border regions of Ukraine and Romania to exchange experience, share their business strategies and ideas, establish partnerships, implement joint projects, and cooperate in mutually beneficial sectors.

This year, following the plenary session held in the assembly hall of Chernivtsi City Council—focused on cross-border economic cooperation—a “business matching” session took place. It brought together Ukrainian and Romanian entrepreneurs to establish direct contacts between small and medium-sized enterprises in the border regions of both countries.

There was also a meeting between Romanian business representatives and senior students of the Faculty of Computer Science at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

Ukrainian and Romanian company representatives had the opportunity to discuss key issues during working sessions and in an informal atmosphere at a joint traditional dinner.
