Round Table “Mechanisms for Engaging the Public in Anti-Corruption Efforts”
On April 15, 2016, a round table discussion titled “Mechanisms for Engaging the Public in Anti-Corruption Efforts” was held. The event was organized by the Chernivtsi Regional Center for Retraining and Professional Development of Civil Servants, Local Self-Government Officials, State Enterprises, Institutions, and Organizations; the Charitable Foundation “Public Resources and Initiatives”; and the Anti-Corruption Prevention and Detection Unit of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration.
The round table addressed the following topics:
Legal and organizational foundations of anti-corruption in the context of systemic reforms and decentralization in Ukraine;
Transparency of public information as a basis for preventing corruption;
Cooperation between authorities and civil society in effective anti-corruption efforts.
Participants included civil servants, local self-government officials, representatives of civil society institutions, and scholars from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.
After keynote speeches by:
Andriy Kuchuran, regional coordinator of the civic movement “Chesno” in Chernivtsi,
Oksana Ogdanska (Vashchuk), expert from the Institute of Media Law, Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Democratic Transformations,
and Valeriy Rusnak, head of the civic organization “Anti-Corruption Commission of the People’s Council in Chernivtsi Region”, an active discussion followed.
