Peacebuilding in Times of War

Peacebuilding in times of war is about understanding reality. It involves identifying risks and threats, responding to humanitarian needs, and building a network of those who genuinely strive for peace and security.

From May 12 to 16, the Steering Group meeting of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) is taking place in Amman, Jordan. Representatives from various regions – from Eastern Europe (where the “Public Resources and Initiatives” Charity Foundaion is one of the regional representatives) to Latin America, the Pacific, the Middle East, and others – have gathered for the event.

During the meeting, participants are discussing how to organize the network’s work in the face of global challenges and geopolitical turbulence, as well as the strategic direction of GPPAC for the next five years.

The war in Ukraine and events surrounding our country raise many questions among representatives from different nations – from Japan, far from Ukraine, to the Philippines. What is happening? What are the possible developments, and is there hope for lasting peace? Natalia Nechayeva-Yuriychuk, head of the regional office of the “Public Resources and Initiatives” Charity Foundation and GPPAC’s regional representative, spoke about what it means to work for peace in times of war.

In this context, greetings on World Vyshyvanka Day carried special meaning. Today, we know what war truly is. And we value peace and the ability to live in a free and independent state all the more. From today on, the participants of the meeting will also remember the Ukrainian vyshyvanka as a symbol of Ukrainian spirit and love for life.
